Bjorklund needs “average” night to break scoring record

Marshall Bjorklund broke the Sibley East boys’ basketball career rebounding record at Montgomery on Friday. An “average” scoring night this week will give the 6’-8” senior center another school record.

With 12 rebounds in a Sibley East win at Montgomery last week, Bjorklund now has 1,049 career boards. The previous Sibley East record for rebounds in a career was held by Chad Henke (1,042), a 1998 graduate.

An “average” scoring night against Mayer Lutheran on Thursday will put Bjorklund atop another Sibley East boys basketball list. He currently has 1,503 points. Cory Uecker, a 1993 Sibley East graduate, scored 1,525 points. Bjorklund’s sister Tera holds the Sibley East record with more than 1,800 points.

Bjorklund is averaging 27.6 points per game this season. He also averages more than 16 rebounds and nearly five blocked shots per game.
