Oak Terrace is looking for old Gaylord memorabilia

Developers of the renovated Oak Terrace Health Care Center (OTHCC) of Gaylord want your help in decorating hallways in the facility’s assisted living wing.

Themes for the three hallways in the wing are Main Street, Alumni Lane, and Glory Day Road, according to Mick Montag of OTHCC.

Montag said he envisions one hallway filled with old pictures of Gaylord’s Main Street. This could be pictures of people with buildings in the background or historic pictures of the town, he explained.

Plans are to have the Alumni Lane hallway filled with pictures of Gaylord High School memorabilia. This would include pictures of GHS graduating classes, old business personnel, old caps and gowns, and old signs or artifacts that refer to the alumni of graduating classes. Old businesses in Gaylord’s past would also be included in the Alumni Lane hallway, according to Montag.

A third wing is being labeled Glory Day Road. Montag said he envisions this wing filled with paraphernalia, pictures, and rosters of GHS’s academic and athletic championship past. According to Montag, this could include old football helmets, football jerseys, old basketball and baseball paraphernalia, rosters of championship teams, and pictures of past sports and academic teams.

Montag said items such as pictures, programs and articles that are contributed could be photographed and returned.

Anyone interested in donating items for the hallways is asked to contact Montag. He will be at OTHCC during the facility’s open house which is planned for Sunday, November 8th (see ad on back page). Or, contact Montag at 507-381-1312.
