Lady Wolverines face #2 Belle Plaine in sub-section tourney

A daunting task but we have nothing to lose. That is how Sibley East volleyball coach Chip Wolverton described his team’s first round matchup in the north sub-section 2AA tournament.

The seventh-seeded Lady Wolverines will play at #2 Belle Plaine in sub-section quarterfinal action. That match will be played Thursday, October 29th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

“We will need to execute our game plan and be more efficient serving, passing and hitting,” Wolverton said. “If we can eliminate some of those errors, it could be a very exciting match. We look to go over there and do ourselves proud by working hard. We have nothing to lose.”

Belle Plaine, which finished second to Le Sueur-Henderson in the Minnesota River Conference (MRC), defeated Sibley East twice this season.

The Tigers are one of three teams in the north sub-section that is ranked among the State’s top ten teams in Class AA. Hutchinson, seeded #1 for sub-section play, is ranked 4th in the State. Belle Plaine and Jordan are ranked 7th and 8th respectively.
