Challenging weather conditions didn’t stop Sibley East graduate Mitch Koepp from earn all-conference golf honors this past weekend.
Koepp, a member of the Bethany Lutheran golf squad, tied for fifth in the UMAC conference championships held at the Alexandria Golf Course. In gusty winds and wet conditions, Koepp carded a two day total of 159 on the par-72 course. He was only four shots behind the conference medalist.
It was also a strong showing for Koepp last Tuesday when he led the BLC Vikings to top honors in the North Central Invitational at Brackett’s Crossing. With wind gusts of more than 40 m.p.h., Koepp managed to score an 82. That was the second best score out of 28 golfers.
Andrew Swanson, another Sibley East grad, also plays for the Bethany golf team. He tied for 15th in the conference championships.
Koepp joined teammate Joe Baer on the UMAC All-Conference Team. Baer, a Lewiston-Altura graduate, placed second with a 156 total.
The conference championships ends the fall golf season for the Bethany Vikings. They won three of five invitationals and had consistent top five individual finishes throughout the year.
