Gaylord’s Eggstravaganza starts Thursday evening


“Let the Good Times Roll” is the theme for Gaylord’s Eggstravaganza Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Eggstravaganza activities kick off Thursday at 7 p.m. with the Gaylord Pool Show. The activity will begin with a “Meet the Miss Gaylord candidates” event.

Friday begins with an Eggceptional breakfast, featuring Michael Foods’ products, at the Gaylord Legion from 6 – 9 a.m. Breakfast is free with a button or $5 at the door.

Chamburgers will be sold at the Neisen’s Parking Lot from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.

Gaylord Firefighters will be hosting a chicken dinner from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Gaylord Fire Hall.

Registration for the Classic Car Cruise will begin at 5 p.m. Registration will be held at the corner of Highway 22 and Highway 19. The cruise will be from 6:45 – 8 p.m., traveling through the City Park, north on Highway 22 through New Auburn, County Road 15 east, south on County Road 13, west on County Road 12, and south on County Road 21. The 1951 time capsule from the former Gaylord Community Hospital will be opened at 7:30 p.m. in the Neisen’s Parking Lot.

A dance, featuring Zeew Factor, will be at the Neisen’s Parking Lot from 8:30 p.m. 12:30 a.m.

Saturday events begin at 8 a.m. with a fitness bike/run/walk starting at the Gaylord Pool. There is a $10 fee to enter.

Food vendors will open in the park at 11 a.m. The Jim Lawrence Band will play in front of the nursing home from 11 a.m. to noon.

The parade, which begins at noon, is expected to have 85 units, according to coordinator Stacy Latzke. The parade will begin at Third and Lincoln. The units will go past Oak Terrace Health Care Center and the park, turn right on Linden Avenue, turn left on Sixth Street (Highway 22), turn left on High Avenue, and turn left on Third Street.

Several parade venues will be performing in the park following the parade.

Children’s activities are planned in the park from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Rich Wieber’s Bike Stunt Shows will perform at 2, 3, 4, and 5 p.m. The show features amazing bicycle stunts, a high energy announcer, and fast-paced music. The show has produced more than 4,000 action sports events throughout the United States.

Registration for the Kiddie Tractor Pull begins at 3 p.m.

Miss Gaylord Coronation will be held in the Junior High from 6 – 7 p.m. Admission is free with a button or $5 at the door.

An old time baseball game between the Arlington Greys and Gaylord Islander alumni will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Walsh Field.

The evening dance will feature Lost Cause. Band members include former Gaylord resident Brian Evans. The dance, which is from 8 p.m. to midnight, is free with a button or $5 at the door.

The annual fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m.
