The organizational meeting of the Norseland Preservation Association (NPA) will be held March 22, at 7 p.m. at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland.
The Norseland Preservation Association is a non-profit corporation (501c3), which was organized as part of the 2008 Norseland Sesquicentennial celebration. Garfield Eckberg and Fred Struck co-chaired the 2008 event and they now encourage all “friends of the Norseland/New Sweden area” to become a part of the NPA. The non-profit is meant to be a vehicle to help preserve historic sites; the heritage of the area; community values that center on faith; and the ethics of the pioneers who built the Norseland/New Sweden communities.
The meeting will allow for a reflection and update on the 2008 celebration and a brainstorming session on possible community projects or events for the future. David Grabitske, Head of Outreach Services for the Minnesota Historical Society will be available for brief remarks. By-laws for the new organization will be adopted and a board of directors for the NPA will be elected.
If you enjoyed the 2008 celebration, please lend a hand so we can continue the opportunities to strengthen the Norseland/New Sweden communities. If you have questions, call Judy Hanson at 507-246-5388 or e-mail at email@example.com.
