A court hearing for former Sibley East Transportation Director Kevin Jones, who is charged with five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, has been delayed.
Jones was originally scheduled to appear in District Court in Gaylord Monday. The omnibus hearing has now been scheduled for Monday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m.
Donald Lannoye, assistant Sibley County Attorney, said that the defense attorney had requested a one week continuance and he agreed to it.
Jones was charged last fall after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl from the fall of 2006 through the spring of 2008. He had served as the student’s transportation director at school, as bus driver to athletic events, and as a supervisor during summer employment at the school.
He was placed on paid leave of absence as Sibley East’s transportation director in October, and was terminated by the Board of Education last month. He had been employed by the school district nine years.
