“Reflecting on the Past ~ Building for the Future” is the theme of Gaylord’s 2008 Eggstravaganza. Gaylord will be celebrating 125 years during August 7 – 10 event.
This year’s celebration will feature the Old West Society of Minnesota. The association provides real cowboys and true horsemen. Four “Old West Reenactments” will be performed during the weekend, one Friday night and three Saturday afternoon.
Cody the Buffalo will be on hand Saturday afternoon, to allow participants to have their picture taken with a real buffalo. There will also be a mechanical bull ride Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Several new events are planned for this year’s celebration.
There will be all-school reunion “meet and greet” events Friday at the Gaylord Library and Saturday at an all-school reunion tent. Alumni are invited to tour the school on their own for two hours Saturday afternoon.
Another new event this year is company tours of Michael Foods Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shuttle buses will leave from the City Park.
Another new feature to this year’s event is Old Time Baseball Sunday at 1 p.m. The St. Croix Baseball Club will be playing by 1860’s rules at Walsh Field. Prior to the baseball game, there will be a hog roast event beginning at 11 a.m. at Walsh Field.
