Softball team shutout by Redbirds in MRC play

Montgomery-Lonsdale proved too strong for Sibley East’s softballers Friday. The Lady Wolverines fell to the Redbirds 10-0 in Minnesota River Conference (MRC) action at Gaylord.

Five hits were all the Wolverines could manage off Montgomery-Lonsdale pitcher Dana Vosejpka.

The Redbirds meanwhile knocked out several singles and scored runs in three of their seven at-bats.

Montgomery-Lonsdale first four batters of the game reached safely and scored. The Redbirds would pick up three more runs in the fifth inning and three more in the seventh frame.

Sibley East’s best scoring opportunity came in the fourth inning. The Wolverines had runners on second and third base but could not foil the shutout.

Brittany Trocke led Sibley East in the setback with two hits. The senior also suffered the mound loss.

The Lady Wolverines, 2-13 overall and 2-7 in conference play, will host league leading Jordan on Thursday. Sibley East begins postseason play on Tuesday, May 20th.
