Former Commissioner of Ag will speak at Sertoma/Rotary Ag Day

Former Commissioner of Agriculture Jim Nichols will be the featured speaker at the Gaylord Rotary and Sertoma Clubs’ Ag-Day to be held Tuesday, March 11th (7 a.m.) at the Legion Club.

Nichols, in the 1980’s, served two terms or eight years as Commissioner of Agriculture under Governor Rudy Perpich. Prior to that he served two terms in the State Senate.

In the 1990’s, Nichols became Sibley County’s first Sibley County Economic Development Coordinator. He was instrumental in the development of Heartland Corn Products which is located east of Winthrop.

Nichols, a lifelong farmer from Lake Benton, will speak to the clubs on wind energy. He is a regional manager for the Vesta Wind Energy Company.
