Gaylord man hospitalized after rollover Monday


A Gaylord man suffered serious injuries Monday in a rollover on 441 Ave. (County Road 13), one mile north of Highway 5 and about three miles northeast of Gaylord.

According to the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Bull, 87, was driving south on 441 Avenue when he lost control of his car, entered the west ditch, and rolled the vehicle.

A passerby drove Bull to the Arlington Hospital where he was treated for injuries. He was later transferred to North Memorial hospital.

According to his daughter Rhonda Sonnek, Bull suffered a cracked vertebra in his neck along with cuts and bruises. His vehicle was a total loss, she explained.

Two other accidents

An estimated three to four inches of snow fell here Monday. Two other rollover accidents during the snowfall were reported.

At 11:25 a.m., a one vehicle rollover occurred near the intersection of Sibley County Road 8 and 351st Avenue, about three miles west of Le Sueur.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a sport utility vehicle, driving by Amanda Thompson of Le Sueur, was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control and rolled.

Thompson suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. Thompson’s vehicle sustained severe damage.

At 12:27 p.m., a pickup, driven by Rudolph Dorwelier, 67, of Arlington, rolled over on County Road 17, one and a half miles southeast of Arlington.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Dorwelier was northbound on County Road 17 when he lost control of his pickup on icy roads and entered the southbound ditch.

Dorwelier was not injured. The pickup received moderate damage.

Arlington Ambulance and Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
