There will be a home volleyball game for Sibley East this week. The Lady Wolverines earned home court advantage for the sub-section quarterfinals after being named the #3 seed for the tournament.
Sibley East will face #6 seed Glencoe-Silver Lake in quarterfinal action. That tilt is scheduled for Thursday, October 25th at Gaylord. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
“I am pleasantly surprised to receive the #3 seed, and am happy for our players and fans to get a home game,” Sibley East head coach Chip Wolverton said. “We now need to defend our home court and prove we are worthy of that seed by playing hard against an improved GSL team.”
Sibley East defeated Glencoe-Silver Lake 2-1 in a tightly contested tournament match last month. The two teams split a pair of 26-24 decisions. Sibley East then clipped the Panthers 6-4 in a tie-break set.
The Lady Wolverines enter post season play with a record of 8-16-1 while Glencoe-Silver Lake is 8-17-1. The Panthers were winless this season in the Wright County Conference.
Le Sueur-Henderson is the top seed for the sub-section tournament while Norwood Young America is #2. Other schools in the seven team field include St. Peter, Maple River and Blue Earth Area.
Sub-section semifinals will be played Tuesday at Mankato East. The championship game is set for Thursday, November 1st at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
