Homecoming Week festivities planned for Sept. 24-28


Sibley East High School hopes to light up the Raiders next Friday, Sept. 28 during the Homecoming game. The football team will face the Central – Norwood Young America Raiders at home.

The student council is supporting a “white out” at the football game. Fans are encouraged to where white to the football game.

Sibley East’s student council is planning a fun-filled week of activities for Homecoming Week next week.

Coronation will be held Monday, September 24 at 2:23 p.m. in the Senior High large gymnasium.

Queen candidates are Stacia Danielson, daughter of Rebecca Danielson of Arlington; Crystal Doering, daughter of Scott and Lori Doering of Gaylord; Becky Eustis, daughter of Randy and Amy Eustis of Gaylord; Jennifer Heibel, daughter of Dan and Karla Heibel of Arlington; and Abby Marshall, daughter of Sharon Marshall of Arlington.

King candidates are Drew Berger, son of Joe and Lori Berger of Arlington; Nick Gardner, son of Pete and Mavis Schilling of Gaylord; Andy McGuire, son of Sandie and Duane McGuire of Gaylord; Daniel Okon, son of Scott and Mary Woods of Arlington; and Matt Vinkemeier, son of Dennis and Diane Vinkemeier of Gaylord.

Junior attendants are Kale Peterson, daughter of Steve and Elia Peterson of Arlington, and Tyler Agre, son of Scott and Jan Agre of Gaylord.

Sophomore attendants are Erin Evans, daughter of Kari Evans of Gaylord, and Tony Haefs, son of Robert and Karen Haefs of rural Henderson.

A pepfest will be held Friday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following the pepfest, a parade will be held, following the traditional route. The parade will conclude by 3:10 p.m. The parade will begin from the bowling alley parking lot in Arlington. The units will head to Main Street, down Fourth Avenue, down Douglas Street, and then return to the bowling alley lot.

Dress up days throughout the week are: Monday – Dress as your favorite holiday; Tuesday – Tin Foil Day; Wednesday – Sport/Fake Injury Day; Thursday – Dress as your Theme Day; Friday – Black and Gold Day.

Two special events are planned Monday night. Powder Puff Football and a Kickball Tournament are both planned Monday at 6 p.m. at the football field.

Sporting events throughout the week are Monday, Sept. 24 – Tennis vs. New Ulm at home; Tuesday, Sept. 25 – Volleyball vs. Montgomery Lonsdale at home; Thursday – Volleyball vs. Jordan, Tennis vs. Jordan, and Cross country at Monty Fun Run; and Friday – Football vs. Central NYA at home.
