School Board candidates narrowed to six

Six of seven candidates who filed for three seats on the Sibley East Board of Education will move on to the general election Nov. 7.

In Tuesday’s primary election, incumbent Danny Woehler of Arlington and challenger Scott Dose of Arlington were the top vote-getters with 439 each. Incumbent Tom Webster of Gaylord received 327 votes, followed by Anne Karl of Arlington with 323, incumbent Mark Brandt of Gaylord with 299, and Brenda Eggert of Arlington with 218.

Candidate Heather Swierczek of Arlington was eliminated in the primary election. She received 114 votes.

Sibley County had a low voter turn out with 1,216 ballots cast. The voter turn out in Sibley County was 13.81%. There were 8,805 registered voters in Sibley County as of 7 a.m. election day.

School board election results were not immediately available on the Web. According to County officials, there were problems uploading the information. As of press time, the County Auditor’s office was working with the Secretary of State’s Office to correct the problem.
