Races develop for Auditor and Dist. 4 Commissioner


Races have developed for the District 4 County Commissioner seat and for Sibley County Auditor.

Steve Gillaspie of Green Isle Township, rural Arlington, is challenging incumbent Charlie Woehler of Green Isle Township, rural Arlington, for District 4 County Commissioner.

LeaAnn Novosad of Arlington is challenging incumbent Lisa Pfarr for County Auditor. Novosad, a former employee in the Sibley County Auditor’s Office, is now employed in the Carver County Motor Vehicle and License Center.

The fourth commissioner district includes the Cities of New Auburn and Green Isle, and Grafton, Moltke, Bismarck, Transit, New Auburn and Green Isle Townships.

Incumbents have filed for the other county offices. Late last week, Harold Pettis filed for District 5 County Commissioner and Bruce Ponath filed for Sheriff.

Other incumbents who filed prior to last week’s edition are Leo Anderly for District 1 County Commissioner, Kathy Dietz for County Recorder, Lisa Pfarr for Auditor, Mary Fisher for County Treasurer, and David Schauer for County Attorney.


Three candidates have filed for three seats on the Sibley East Board of Education.

Incumbent Mark Brandt of rural Gaylord, incumbent Danny Woehler of rural Arlington, and Heather Swierczek of Arlington have filed for office.

Filing closes for the county and school board positions on Tuesday, July 18 at 5 p.m. The positions will be filled at the general election on November 7.
