Ella Baerg, age 81, of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Gaylord Lakeview Nursing Home in Gaylord.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2006, at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord. The Rev. David Marcham will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Ella May (Dwire) Baerg was born on November 22, 1924, in Balaton. She was the daughter of Harry and Petrea (Larson) Dwire. Ella was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Balaton, Minnesota, and was a 1943 graduate of the Balaton High School.
Ella was united in marriage to Isaac Baerg on December 16, 1951, in Balaton. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Springfield, residing there for 12 years. While in Springfield, Ella worked at the J.C. Penney store and also was a clerk at Guse Grocery. In September of 1963, Ella and Isaac moved to Gaylord, where she worked at the Good Samaritan Home and at Gaylord Lakeview Nursing Home. Ella enjoyed working with the elderly and spent 20 years in this career, retiring in 1985. Ella and Isaac shared 54 years of marriage.
Ella was a member of the United Church of Christ in Gaylord, where she was active in the Priscilla Circle.
Ella loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed doing crafts, homemaking and helping others.
Ella is survived by her husband, Isaac “Ike” Baerg of Gaylord; sisters, Edna Bollman of Moorhead, Millie Pagel of Balaton, and Helen Dennin of Litchfield; sister-in-law; Martha Geortzen of Windom; three brothers-in-law; Abram Baerg of Mountain Lake, Peter Baerg of San Diego, CA, and Lyle Bennett of Windom; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Petrea Dwire; sister, Ethel Moat; several sisters-in-law; and several brothers-in-law.
