X WINOS will parade through town Saturday

If you’re in Gaylord this weekend, you will likely hear the roar of motorcycles.

The X WINOS motorcycle club is returning to the Gaylord Game Protective League (GPL) grounds for its annual Turkey Roast.

This will mark the 12th straight year the group has made the trip to Gaylord. X WINOS is a group of motorcyclists recovering from drug and alcohol abuse.

According to Gaylord pool manager Eileen Brandt, the X WINOS are planning a parade this year on Saturday. Brandt said the parade will begin at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the Pow Wow grounds. Motorcyclists will ride into town on County Road 21 (Lincoln Avenue). The parade route will then take them: by the nursing home, around the city park, south on Third Street, west on High Avenue, and south on Fifth Street.

The X WINOS will conclude the parade in the City parking lot directly east of St. Paul’s church, Brandt explained.

An X WINOS turkey roast and dance are also planned for Saturday. According to Brandt, the public is invited but only those drug and alcohol free will be allowed in the GPL grounds. Brandt also said anyone interested in attending the dance must get a voucher available at the pool.

Several other activities are planned by the X WINOS during their three day stay at the GPL grounds. Approximately 300 people attended the event last year.

Another motorcycle rally is planned for Gaylord the third weekend of July. Approximately 500 motorcyclists are anticipated for that event.
