Islanders can’t stop Prior Lake hit parade


Hits from all angles came at Gaylord’s defense Sunday. The Islanders fell to Prior Lake’s class “B” team 12-1 in a seven inning Carver Central League tilt at Walsh Field.

Prior Lake cranked out 19 hits in the rout and scored runs in five of its seven at-bats. Seven Prior Lake batters recorded at least two hits in the victory.

The visitors opened the game with back-to-back doubles and two first inning runs. A similar at-bat gave Prior Lake a 4-0 lead in the third inning.

Gaylord watched the deficit grow to 10-0 in the fourth inning. Prior Lake batted around the order in the inning and produced six runs on seven hits.

The lone run for the Islanders came in the sixth inning. Brad Walsh opened the at-bat with a single. He scored on Paul Mages’ double.

Josh Gasow led all Gaylord batters with two hits. Randy Walsh suffered the mound loss. He gave up nine runs on 12 hits in 3-1/3 innings. Mages pitched the next 2-2/3 innings for Gaylord. He yielded three runs on seven hits.
